Cooper B-Line Expands Heavy Duty Expansion Splice Plate Offering
to Include Hot Dipped Galvanized and Stainless Steel Materials
Expanded product offering allows for the elimination of cable ladder supports when using hot
dipped galvanized and stainless steel cable ladder
HIGHLAND, IL July 9, 2012 – Cooper B-Line, a global provider of innovative, labor-saving
support systems and enclosure solutions for engineered facility subsystem applications, has
expanded its Heavy Duty Expansion Splice Plate product offering. The expansion splice plate is
designed to reduce the number of supports required for supporting cable ladder systems at
expansion and contraction splices while maintaining maximum load capabilities.
Previously offered in marine-grade 6063-T6 aluminum material, the Heavy Duty Expansion
Splice Plate is now also available in hot dipped galvanized and stainless steel materials. The
new product is a cost effective way to splice straight sections of cable ladder in long-run outdoor
applications where temperature variations require the installer to account for thermal expansion
and contraction.
“The Heavy Duty Expansion Splice Plate was developed in response to listening to our
customers and their needs” said Daniel Castillo, President of Cooper B-Line. “Supports for cable
ladders represent a significant cost on any project; by reducing the need for supports at each
expansion splice there is a great potential for additional value through increased savings when
utilizing our cable ladder.”
Unlike other cable ladder systems which require two traditional supports at each expansion
splice, Cooper B-Line’s improved Heavy Duty Expansion Splice Plate allows the installer to
support an expansion joint by using only one support per joint. By simply eliminating the need
for costly “ground-up” supports the Heavy Duty Expansion Splice Plate allows for an impressive

time- and cost-savings. The result is the elimination of 50 percent of the supports required at
each expansion joint, which helps customers save significantly overall on the total cost of cable
ladder installation.
Heavy Duty Expansion Splice Plates are one of five key attributes of Cooper B-Line’s metallic
cable ladder system that combine to yield significant opportunities to reduce structural steel
supports in heavy industrial applications by up to 66 percent.
