All sessions will take place in the
morning, and again in the afternoon.
1. Saying Yes to Friendships and
Relationships
This session will include an interactive activity,
personal stories, and tips for success in job searching,
preparing a resume, interviewing, and keeping a job.
We will also discuss how to ask for an accommodation
from your employer, and how to maintain your
position and adapt to changes in the workplace.
Participants will leave with helpful tools, including
resources to assist others in their career success.
3. Partnering with Your Services
for a Full Life
John Fenley, a DSP, & an area agency provider
Receiving support services is a good thing, but it can be
challenging to balance your unique needs, wants, and
lifestyle with the structure of the service provider system.
Join us for an open conversation with a person receiving
services, a direct service provider, and an area agency
provider on how to partner with service providers
effectively so that you can live the life you choose.
4. How To’s of Advocacy
Panel of advocacy group members
New Hampshire offers a number of advocacy groups
you can join to meet other advocates and learn how
to effect positive change in your life and the lives of
others in your community. This session will include a
panel discussion with members of several advocacy
groups, and time for Q&A.
Dream Catchers 2.0 and Rising Stars members
5. Know Your Rights!
Friendships and deep relationships are what it’s all
about! This session will focus on forming and keeping
positive friendships and relationships. Presenters will
talk about their own experiences of friendship,
dating, and marriage, and lead an audience
participation activity and Q&A session. Attendees will
leave with ideas on ways to form friendships, and
knowledge about dating and forming deeper
relationships: what works and what to avoid.
Jan Skoby, Nate Webb, and Alan Emerson
History has demonstrated that people with disabilities
are at risk for abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other
human rights violations. We all have the same basic
human rights. In order to protect and safeguard these
rights we need to better understand what they are. This
session will review rights and responsibilities pertaining
to supports and services received, as well as how to
report situations of potential rights violations.
