Status of Action Items of Interest
 Action Item: Develop spike camp kit standard
 Tabled as no new information received or need to develop a standard
kit based on how the caches can support currently
 Action Item: Carry a “reducer” fitting in the caches for collapsible
6000 gallon tanks (all collapsible – 3000, 4800, 6000)
 Discussion:
o There was concurrence that providing standardized couplings on
the various collapsible tanks currently carried in the cache system
would offer operational advantages and options to field users,
specifically allowing for coupling mounted gravity fed hose lay or
coupling compatibility with MK III pump suction hose. Although
standardized couplings are a desirable outcome it is not a critical
need or essential to transition immediately as the operations
discussed above can be performed without using the couplings. As
a result, a retrofit of existing tanks is not warranted. A transition to
standardized couplings can be obtained through establishing
standardized coupling specifications on future acquisitions and the
attrition of older stocks of collapsible tanks.
 Decision:
o No retrofit of current tanks
o Incorporate 2” female NPSH tank flange requirement into future
collapsible tank procurement specifications
4
o It is recommended that the 2” double male fitting described as
follows be added to NFES: Double Male Adaptor Coupling: 2”
NPSH x 2” NPSH
 Action Item: Hazards of manila rope fibers into skin and infection
potential. Because of this some individuals wear masks and double
gloves.
 Discussion:
o Recommendation from submitter is to replace with nylon rope
 Decision:
o MTDC will research rope that would work best to replace manila
rope in wall tent and flys and submit to NFES
