ULI Healthy Places Presenter: Susan Jezek, District Coordinator ULI Tampa Bay Director Communities around the world face pressing health challenges related to the built environment. For many years, ULI and its members have been active players in discussions and projects that make the link between human health and development; ULI recognizes health is a core component of thriving communities. The ULI Building Healthy Places Initiative will build on that work with a multifaceted program—including research and publications, convenings, and advisory activities—to leverage the power of the Institute’s global networks to shape projects and places in ways that improve the health of people and communities. Solar Ready Florida (Rooftop Solar Challenge) Presenter: Brady Smith, AICP, Principal Planner Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council is a member of the Solar Ready II (SRII) team that is participating in the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative Rooftop Solar Challenge (RSCII). Through SRII and RSCII, TBRPC will promote solar energy best management practices (BMPs) that will lead to more streamlined and standardized solar processes in addition to making solar energy more cost competitive in their region. Economic Valuation of Tampa Bay Presenter: Patrick O’Neil, Principal Planner, Economic Development Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council is preparing an Economic Valuation of Tampa Bay to determine the economic importance of Tampa Bay and its environs on the overall economy of west central Florida. Emphasis will be placed on identifying the economic importance of good water quality on the economy; addressing total contributions of Tampa Bay to the economy in terms of Gross Regional Product, employment and income directly and indirectly related to bay dependent businesses and industries; analyzing economic sectors affected by the presence and/or use of the bay; and comparing the bay-dependent economy to the entire bay area economy. TBRPC Staff will provide a brief overview of the study objectives, discuss the methodology and describe the Council’s econometric tools to be used. 6.
