Environmental Planner
The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council is seeking a motivated professional to fill the position of
Environmental Planner in the Planning Division. This position will be responsible for the following
environmental duties including but not limited to the following:









Provide administrative functions for the Council’s Agency on Bay Management.
Participate on designated environmental committees.
Coordinate production of the Council’s Bay Soundings environmental journal.
Provide written reviews of environmental and natural resource items.
Prepare and maintain natural resource goals in accordance with the Strategic Regional Policy
Plan.
Interface and serve as the Council liaison with environmental agencies within the six county
region.
Develop competitive grant applications.
Provide technical support for environmental projects and programs.
Participate in planning activities for community visioning and transportation.
Education & Experience
 Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in
environmental studies or related field.
 Minimum of two years increasingly responsible environmental/natural resource professional
experience.
Job Requirements
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience writing formal recommendations.
Experience with Microsoft Office products to include Power-Point, Excel and Word.
Familiarity with mapping and Geographic Information System technology.
Ability to read a wetland/topographic map.
Ability to make formal presentations to the public.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, management,
community agencies and the public.
 Must be technologically skillful and use technology in fulfillment of job requirements.







Compensation
 The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $65,000 and includes membership in the Florida
Retirement System.
