 Florida’s Future Corridors Initiative
Ms. Huiwei Shen, Intergovernmental Programs Administrator, Florida
Department of Transportation provided a status report on the Florida’s
Future Corridors Program. The Florida Department of Transportation
(FDOT), in cooperation with the Florida Transportation Commission,
worked with statewide, regional, and local partners to initiate a Future
Corridors Program. This program identified statewide transportation
corridors that will be significantly improved, transformed in function or
design, or newly developed over the next 50 years. FDOT is also
developing strategic plans for corridors incorporating a wide range of
alternative actions and modal opportunities.
 June is Hurricane Awareness Month
June 1st will mark the beginning of the 2012 Hurricane Season and the
time again to initiate a public awareness campaign to alert the region’s
citizens to get prepared. Resolution #2012-02 was passed declaring the
month of June as Hurricane Awareness Month in the Tampa Bay region.
 46th National Association of Regional Council’s Annual Conference
The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council is hosting the 46th Annual
National Association of Regional Councils Annual Conference at the
Renaissance Vinoy, June 10th through June 14th. This national
conference will bring in over 400 elected officials and regional planning
professionals from across the nation. Registration is now available at
