A Visit with the Provost:
Join Chairman Bob Hamers in Greeting Paul DeLuca, Jr.
Paul M. DeLuca, Jr., provost and vice chancellor for
academic affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is
the chief operating officer of the university and deputy to the
chancellor in the overall academic leadership and
administrative management of the university. The provost
acts as the chief executive officer of the institution in the
chancellor's absence.
The Provost will speak to members of the Chemistry
Department between 3:30 and 4:30 in Seminar Hall.
This is a rare opportunity to see and hear another of the
University’s “Prime Movers,” as we did when Chancellor
Martin visited last year.
Primary responsibilities of the Provost include: academic program planning involving twelve
schools and colleges; faculty and staff development and personnel oversight; Dean of
Students offices; budget planning and management; enrollment management; the Office for
Equity and Diversity; the General Library System; information technology; diversity
initiatives; outreach and extension programming; Office of Child Care and Family
Resources, as well as collaboration with other vice chancellors in the areas of facilities
planning and management, and law and policy administration. The provost works closely
with the deans and with faculty, staff and student committees in the exercise of shared
governance of the institution.
Please join us for refreshments at about 4:30 in the Charter Street Atrium
