Chem 451 can be taken instead of Chem 351 but note that Chem 451 is a three hour course. Students must still have 32 credits in Chemistry. 4. Students transferring from another school where only one semester of gen chem was required must take CHEM 123 or its equivalent. 5. Possible electives: CHEM 411, CHEM 415, CHEM 432, Undergraduate research or other 300-400 level courses. 6. A student must retake general chemistry lecture (Chem 121/123) if their course is 6 years old or more. See a) and b) below: a) If a letter grade in an "old" gen chem course is less than a B, then that entire lecture course must be repeated. b) Students may substitute the CLEP Exam (www.collegeboard.com) for retaking Chem 121/123 if their course letter grades are a B or better.
