Rationale for Revision: ESSC 324 Weather is a course that satisfies the requirements for the Earth Science and Earth Science Teaching Majors. PHY 221 was added as a concurrent prerequisite back in 2006 so that students would have the Math required for the Physics course to enter ESSC 324. The PHY 221 material is not prerequisite to the class (and never was) because it is already presented in the ESSC 324 course. The majors were also required to take PHY 221 so it was convenient and beneficial (but not necessary), if the students took PHY 221 at the same time or before ESSC 324. Our department would now like to add ESSC 324 as a requirement to the Earth Science Teaching Minor, but PHY 221 is not required for this program. So, the prerequisites are being changed to accommodate these students without reducing the math requirements to a level below what is necessary to serve the majors. B.
