Rationale for Revision: The four course sequence (CTAA 167, 267, 367, and 467) was designed to provide each student credit for various applied instructional activities. Under the existing major, students are required to enroll in two of the four credits (i.e., CTAR 167 and either CTAA 267, 367 or 467). Program review and assessment have revealed inconsistencies between our current program and both comparable university theatre programs and accreditation standards for the National Association of Schools of Theatre. The proposed program will raise the requirement from two to four credits of applied theatre practice. The revised course descriptions for the aforementioned four courses maintain specificity of activity, while the increase in credit hour requirement reflects a broader scope of practical theatre experiences.
