There has been a proposal put forth to restructure the College of Technology to include Computer Science (thereby removing it from the College of Arts and Sciences). A handout provided the rationale for this proposal from the College of Technology, Wade Tornquist. The department will be submitting feedback regarding this proposal by a deadline of October 25, 2013. The department did not see this coming; the Provost told the Computer Science department back in April that these discussions were not happening. This proposal will come to CAC after Computer Science gives its input so this information is being given to the Science subcommittee for awareness purposes only. Historically, Computer Science faculty members have been trained heavily in science and/or math, so the inclination is for this department to stay with the sciences. Meeting was adjourned at 5:11pm by Chair, Amy Flanagan Johnson. Respectfully submitted by Natalie Dove, CAC-S Secretary (2013-2014)
