Approval of Minutes from the April 3, 2014 meeting – Motion to approve; motion passes (4-0-1) Old Business: None New Business Committee Elections: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary – All officers from last year were re-nominated for service this year. Amy Johnson (Chem) was nominated as Chair, Mike Angell (Bio) was nominated as Vice Chair, and Natalie Dove (Psy) was nominated as secretary, and there was a motion to approve these officers as nominated. Motion passed by a vote of 5-0-0. EAA Resolution: The draft of the CAC subcommittee’s resolution against EMU’s participation in the EAA was circulated and discussed. There was a motion to approve this resolution for forwarding to Dean Venner’s office. The motion passed with a vote of 4-2-0. College of Arts and Sciences COSC 426: Software Development for Mobile Devices new course proposal COSC 472: Introduction to Big Data new course proposal Motion to approve these courses as a package was passed by a vote of 6-0-0 ENVI 488: Internship new course proposal Motion to approve this course was passed by a vote of 6-0-0 IESS Interdisciplinary Environmental Science and Society BS program revision Motion to table this proposal so that clarifications regarding how the program will be listed in the catalog can occur and Biology has a chance to go back to their faculty (as a whole) for input was passed by a vote of 4-2-0 College of Business (response date Oct 30) Web and Mobile Technologies new undergraduate certificate proposal Motion to approve this proposal was passed by a vote of 6-0-0 College of Health & Human Services (response date Oct 30) AGIN 418: Introduction to Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Related Dementias new course proposal Comment: There are no prerequisites or restrictions on this course, and the grading scale mirrors grading from a graduate level course even though this is an undergraduate course. In addition, the word “Other” in the title is redundant and should potentially be removed. Motion to not approve this course based upon the comments above passed by a vote of 5-1-0 HLED 355*: Health Education Program Planning course description and prereq/coreq revision HLED 380*: Psychosocial Health and Service Learning course description and prereq/coreq revision HLTH Health Education Minor program revision *proposals included in the Health Education Minor package Motion to approve the above HLED courses and the program revision as a package passed 60-0 College of Technology (response date Oct 30) EM 531: Engineering Management Analysis new course proposal Motion to table this course until Math is consulted about this course passed by a vote of 6-0-0 EM 630: High Tech Engineering Innovation new course proposal Motion to approve this course passed by a vote of 6-0-0 IDE 507: Sustainable Design: LEED for Interior Design new course proposal IDE 508: Universal and Barrier Free Design course title, credit hours, and description revision IDE 509: Evidence-Based Design new course proposal Comment: There is no faculty vote on the paperwork for this course. IDE 601: Interior Design Research Methods credit hours and description revision Interior Design MS program revision Comments: It is confusing how many times IDE 602 can be taken for credit. There is a discrepancy in the paperwork, with one section of the paperwork saying the course can be taken 3 times for credit, and another section of the paperwork saying the course can be taken “3 additional times.” This needs to be clarified. In addition, IDE 416G is not in the graduate catalog but is part of this graduate program.
