Program or Service Area: Name of the program, service, and/or training activity being discussed in this assessment plan.
Service/Operation Outcomes: Outcomes are specific statements derived from goals; they help clarify and define the meaning of the goal.
Service/Operation outcomes describe those elements of a program or activity that can be counted and used to evaluate effectiveness such as:
tracking the number of students served/participated; type of interaction with students; level of satisfaction; needs; department behaviors/attitudes;
cost effectiveness; program review; etc.
Tracking/Usage: Track participation in programs or services. Consider the following methods: existing data, tracking systems
Needs Assessment: Determining the needs of a specific group or intended audience. Consider the following methods: survey, focus group, visual
methods, existing data
Program Effectiveness (Satisfaction): Level of satisfaction, involvement, effectiveness, helpfulness, etc. Consider the following methods: survey,
focus group, observation, existing data
Cost Effectiveness: How does a program/service being offered compare with cost? Consider the following methods: existing data, document
analysis
Climate/Culture Environment: Assess the behaviors/attitudes on campus, in your department, and/or associated with a specific service/program.
Consider the following methods: focus group, document analysis, survey, existing data, case study, observation, rubric
Benchmarking/National Standards: Comparing a program/service against a comparison group or standard. Consider the following methods:
survey, rubric, existing data
**Not every outcome has to be assessed every year, but all outcomes must be assessed at least once during the three-year time period.**
