Bruce C. Gockerman
Endowed Scholarship
Originally created in 1977 by alumni Bruce C. Gockerman
and Gary E. Murg, this award was known as the GockermanMurg Award. In 1983 the award was split into two separate
endowed scholarships with different application requirements.
(1) Must be an EMU student.
(2) Must have junior or senior status.
(3) Must be an economics major.
(4) Must submit a paper on a subject closely related to the discipline of
economics.
Gary E. Murg
Endowed Scholarship
Originally created in 1977 by alumni Bruce C. Gockerman

(1) Must be an EMU student.
(2) Must have junior or senior status.
(3) Must be an economics major.
(4) Must have outstanding record of service to the Economics Department.
(5) Nominations made by students or faculty members.
Donald W. Pearson
Endowed Scholarship
Originally established by Professor Emeritus Donald Pearson
in 2012 as an expendable scholarship, this award officially
became endowed in 2013.
(1) Must be an EMU student.
(2) Must be an economics major or minor.
(3) Must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 (overall and in economic courses).
(4) Preference given to Honors Program participants and/or students with
international study experience.

application requirements for each scholarship.
A general application is on the back of the brochure. Student
applicants must complete the general application as well
as the additional requirements for the desired scholarship.
Nominations are also accepted.
