The Dennis M. Beagen Undergraduate Symposium Keynote Speaker delivers an
inspirational message during the annual Symposium luncheon to student participants,
family members, friends, and colleagues. This 20-minute lecture is provided in honor of
the stellar presentations, displays, and performances of our undergraduate students at
the event, and the outstanding commitment of our faculty to provide extraordinary
leadership and guidance to undergraduate students and their research experience.
Awarded annually, the Beagen Keynote Speaker receives an honorarium with travel and
lodging expenses as needed.
Keynote speaker nominee criteria:
• Alumni of Eastern Michigan University
• Fascinating personal life journey
• Fulfilling vocation or career
• Inspirational message
• Dynamic, engaging speaking style
Submission process to be completed by EMU faculty or staff:
• The nomination form, below, must be completed
• Include a brief description that addresses the nominee’s eligibility based on the
criteria outlined

Nominations Due: October 9, 2015
Selection process: Nominations received by the October 9 deadline will be reviewed by
the College of Arts and Sciences Dean, the host of the Undergraduate Symposium.
