Dr.
Roden’s Financial Markets Class Headed to Guadalajara
Students enrolling in the Maymester section of FINA 4400: Financial Markets and Institutions will spend two weeks of study in Denton and then go to Tec de Monterrey campus in Guadalajara to apply what they learned.
The class will meet at UNT from May 17 through June 3 then be in Guadalajara May 28 ‐
June 5, back in time for courses in Summer 1.
The México part of the course is to help students learn about U.S.
and Mexican financial markets and intermediaries in a foreign setting.
While in México, they will study business Spanish taught by the Tec faculty and stay in dormitory rooms on the campus ( http://www.itesm.mx/venaltec/gdl/index.html
).
Tec campus Guadalajara is in the second largest campus in México.
The campus has tennis courts, swimming pools, computers, a football stadium (yes, for American football), a jogging trail, cafeterias, gymnasium, and dormitories (residencias).
Cost to each student of the México program is $780, which is reduced by a $500 scholarship from the
Study Abroad Center.
Chad Scott , an ITDS major excited about upcoming trip, said, “paying a net $280 for a week in México learning about financial markets and intermediaries while enjoying the culture is
too good to pass up!”
Professor Peyton Foster Roden will conduct the course.
“I’ve worked with the staff at Tec campus
Guadalajara to provide for a meaningful intellectual and cultural experience,” he said.
He has taken
students to several Tec campuses.
The schedule for the week in México is still changing, but as of today the calendar is as follows:
