FIREL Students Are Awarded Industry Scholarships

Jin Na and Thomas Giallonardo are selected for nationally competitive awards

Jin Na, a risk management & insurance major, was named the recipient of the Royal & SunAlliance/ Douglas Barlow Scholarship awarded by the Spencer Educational Foundation. The $7500 scholarship, is awarded by the Foundation’s Education Committee to the scholarship recipient with the Highest Grade Point Average within the pool of selected Spencer Scholars.

The mission of the Spencer Educational Foundation, Inc. is to stimulate, promote and encourage promising students of risk management disciplines by supporting them in fulfilling their educational goals. The Foundation provides scholarship awards, educational grants and knowledge programs for undergraduate, graduate and part-time MBA students.

Thomas J. Giallonardo, IV, a real estate major, was named the recipient of the John T. Riordan Professional Education Scholarship and Grant awarded by International Council of Shopping Centers

(ICSC) Foundation.

The ICSC Foundation established the John T. Riordan Professional

Education Scholarship in 2004 to encourage professional education and to further career development of retail real estate professionals.

These scholarships enable industry professionals to attend the

International Council of Shopping Centers’ professional development schools at no cost. The typical certificate program is five days in duration with two 3-1/2 hour sessions a day, except one day with a single 3-1/2 hour session. Activities are varied, ranging from formal lectures, class discussions and workshops to informal exchanges of information.
