2008-09 Library Additions to the Collection
The library will receive a base-budget increase of $300,000 in FY 2009-10. As a result we are able to add
new content and restore important databases which were cancelled in 2007-08. The Collection
Development team carefully reviewed the journals wish list and added titles whose content was highly
unique or titles with a broad appeal and would be used by a large number of disciplines.
Just as important the library did not need to cancel content this year to offset the annual inflation rate.
Taking inflation into account ($125,000) and adding $54,000 of new/restored content totals an
estimated $179,000 out of the $300,000. The “surplus” $121,000 will be added to monographs and also
be used to help offset inflation pressures for the next year.
