inf anticide, which in turn caused her lover’s suicide.
As the three spend more time with each other, it’s increasingly clear why they were locked into
the room together — they are all each others’ torture.
“‘No Exit’ is about three people who become each other’s tortures,” said the show’s director,
OSU T heatre student Abby Pasquini. “Hell is other people. It’s an example of how human beings

While Inès and Estelle assuredly deserve the af terlif e they’ve been given, the play implies that
Cradeau’s past could perhaps be redeemed.
“Two of them def initely belong in hell,” Pasquini said. “But Cradeau’s hell — he’s in hell because
he’s keeping himself there.”
Sartre wrote “No Exit” in 1944, directly af ter World War II. “He was in France, so he did see it
f all,” Pasquini said. “It was his experience and his reaction to it.
“It’s not a comf ortable play, but it’s a thought-provoking play.”
For Pasquini, a senior, “No Exit” will be her f irst f ull-length directorial debut. “I did one of the
one acts last year, but this is my f irst f ull show,” Pasquini said. “I’ve had advisers, but not
someone watching over my shoulder. It’s been cool.”
“No Exit” runs at 7:30 p.m. April 18, 19 and 20, and at 2 p.m. April 21 in the Lab T heatre. For
