Endowed Scholarships
To be considered for a College of Technology scholarship, complete a scholarship
application, available on line, and submit it in person to Rebekah McDow in room 109 Sill
Hall. Scholarships are available to College of Technology students majoring in programs
within the college.

General Scholarships
John W. Porter – Graduate Research Excellence Scholarship
Awarded to a returning COT student who has participated in EMU’s graduate research fair.
Peggy and Bill Moylan Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a declared major in the College of Technology.
UG, should have completed their general study requirements of 41 credits and learning outside the classroom;
overall GPA greater than 2.5 and major GPA greater than 3.0; GR, should be fully admitted to the program and
met all conditional admission requirements. Selection is made by faculty council to 105 students who they
consider as exemplary examples of COT students and students who meet the school’s mission.
Richard & Norma Sarns Scholarship
Awarded to a College of Technology students who have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or above. Must be enrolled in a
minimum of 12 credit hours for the semester the award is granted; priority will be given to high school graduates
and then to currently enrolled EMU students.
COT Deans Resource Board Scholarship
Students must have a declared major in the College of Technology. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA, be
actively enrolled and achieve Senior status during the period of the award. Student must submit a 200 word goal
statement and a letter of recommendation.

Jay J. Seaver Scholarship
Awarded to College of Technology junior or senior student who exhibit superior academic performance;
preference given to minority students and selection based on student’s academic record.
George A. Willoughby Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to Industrial Education students with outstanding achievement and/or outstanding promise for
contribution in the field of industrial education.
John Rini Memorial Scholarship
Applicants must be a member of the Administrative Management Society COT chapter, achieve at least Junior
status, have a declared major in an administrative management area and show evidence of leadership and
service.

Ervin Industries Scholarship
Awarded to students (entering college for the first time or transfer students) must have an interest to work in the
Industrial Technology field and intend to major with a degree from the School of Engineering Technology; a
cumulative 2.5 GPA required; must be enrolled as a part-time student (6 credit hour minimum).
SET Faculty and Alumni Scholarship
Awarded one scholarship per year for fall only. Both undergraduate and graduate students with a major in
the School of Engineering Technology can apply; preference given to junior and senior students; UG GPA 3.0
and graduate GPA 3.2 required; must provide two recommendation letters, must demonstrate professional
promise and entrepreneurial ambition; must submit a personal statement on goals and future ambition in the
industry.
Max Kanagy Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate and graduate students in related SET program; one scholarship per year fall term
only. Preference given to UG juniors and seniors with a 3.0 GPA and 3.5 for graduates. Must provide letter of
recommendation from past or current employer(s); must demonstrate professional promise and entrepreneurial
ambition; must submit a personal statement about goals.
Carolyn Marr Thomson Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to Computer-Aided Manufacturing/Product Design & Development majors with a cumulative 3.0
GPA; preference given to female applicants. Industrial Technology students majoring in other areas and meet
other requirements may receive an award.
Valspar Scholarship
Awarded to a student majoring in Polymers and Coatings with a minimum 3.0 GPA and must be enrolled in the
College of Technology.

Polymers and Coating Scholarship
Awarded to a student majoring in Polymers and Coatings with a minimum 3.0 GPA for an undergraduate
student and 3.5 GPA for a graduate student and must be enrolled in the College of Technology.
John C. Graham Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to Polymers & Coating majors (all academic levels will be considered) who have a 3.0 GPA or
above.
Charles H. Parker & John A. Gordon Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to students in the Polymers & Coatings curriculum. Selection made at the discretion of the department
head or program coordinator.

Morell D. Boone Scholarship
Awarded to students seeking a Master of Science (MS) in Technology degree with a 3.0 GPA or better.
Student must be enrolled in minimum of 6 credits per semester.
Grace Fuller Scholarship
Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in Department of Human, Environmental, and Consumer Resources or
any subsequent name the department might bear (ATM, HRM, IDE); cumulative 3.0 GPA and selection based
upon scholarly performance and leadership potential.
Frances G. Sanderson Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate in ATM, HRM, IDE programs who demonstrate leadership ability, motivation, and
commitment along with scholastic performance. Financial need may be considered.
A2 Yoga Studio & Spa Scholarship
Awarded to a declared major in HRM. Preference given to graduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA and
interested in research; must submit a goal and vision statement for future in hospitality; must have a 2.5
academic record from a community college or university in Michigan.
Polly and Jim Buchanan Hospitality Management Scholarship
Awarded to Hospitality Management major at the sophomore level or above with at least 25 credit hours
completed, including graduate students); have a 2.3 GPA or higher and dedication to completing degree,
interest in the hospitality industry by shown work experience and/or support for the student club or other
industry related activities. The student can only receive the award once.
Coca Cola Scholarship
Awarded to students who earned 56 credits toward their degree; having completed their first HRM cooperative
study rotation and are in good academic standing. Financial need may be considered – it will not be one of the
required criteria for awarding the scholarship.

Rhonda M. Gayleard Scholarship
Awarded to Business Education (BMMT) majors who have a 3.0 GPA or above.
Julius M. Robinson Scholarship
Awarded to students majoring in Business Education (BMMT), then secondary education if such curriculum is
not offered, who have completed 75 credit hours, junior standing with one full semester taken at EMU and have
achieved an outstanding record that semester.
Dr. Rose C. Wingo Scholarship
Awarded to Business Education majors with a cumulative 2.5 GPA; completed BMMT 200; student are to
express in writing a desire to become a teacher; enrolled in a minimum of 8 credit hours during the semester the
award is granted.
Alice W. Callum Paralegal Scholarship
Awarded to students with a declared major in Paralegal Studies (Legal Assistant); preference given to junior or
senior with a GPA of 3.0; must submit letter stating goals and why applicant should be considered; preference
also given to applicants who are active in community service.
W.W. Grainger
Awarded to junior or senior Industrial Distribution students. Must have completed 9 credit hours toward the
Industrial Distribution degree. Must demonstrate merit through course work or service in the Industrial
distribution profession or a combination of both.

Grace Fuller Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a junior or senior majoring in Department of Human, Environmental, and Consumer Resources or
any subsequent name the department might bear (ATM, HRM, IDE); cumulative 3.0 GPA and selection based
upon scholarly performance and leadership potential.
Frances G. Sanderson Scholarship
Awarded to undergraduate in ATM, HRM, IDE programs who demonstrate leadership ability, motivation, and
commitment along with scholastic performance. Financial need may be considered.
Mary Cullen Scholarship
Awarded to students with a declared major in Communications Technology; cumulative EMU GPA of 3.0 or
better; financial need as determined by the School of Technology Studies.
Technology Solutions Scholarship in Communications
Awarded to Communication Technology majors achieving junior or senior status with a cumulative 2.7 GPA
with preference given to Technology Solutions employees. Recipients are encouraged to participate in internship
while receiving scholarship.
John and Michelle Bodary/Woods Construction Scholarship
One scholarship awarded per year for fall term only. Both undergraduate and graduate students in
Construction Management are eligible. UG – preference given to juniors and seniors with expressed interest in
entrepreneurship within the construction industry; 3.0 GPA for UG and 3.5 GPA for graduate; must provide two
recommendation letters from past or present employers; must demonstrate professional promise and
entrepreneurial ambition and provide a personal statement on goals in the construction industry.
Construction Alumni Chapter Scholarship
Awarded to both undergraduate (3.0 GPA) and graduate (3.5 GPA) student in the Construction Management
program; preference given to juniors and seniors and to applicants with expressed interest in entrepreneurship
within the construction industry. Applicant must provide (2) letters of recommendation from past or current
employers, demonstrate professional promise and entrepreneurial ambition and submit a personal statement
about goals in the construction industry.

Fred Wright Scholarship
Awarded to a junior or seniors enrolled in the Construction Management program with a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
Industrial Power Systems Inc. Construction Management Scholarship
Awarded to Construction Management students with a 2.8 GPA or above; preference given to child/grandchild
of current Industrial Power System employee or child/grandchild of furnished list of a construction trade
organization.
Dr. John A. Weeks Construction Management Scholarship
Awarded to Construction Management (CM) majors who are members of Eastern Constructors and have earned
a minimum of 48 credit hours toward a CM degree. The applicant must also have at least one full academic year
left subsequent to the application deadline. Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from faculty
with application.
Fred Wright Construction Management Scholarship
Awarded to Construction Management majors achieving junior or senior status with a cumulative 3.0 GPA
Turner Construction Scholarship
Available to graduates and undergraduate students who are majoring in Construction Management. For
undergraduate students preference will be given to juniors and seniors with a 3.0 GPS or higher. Graduate
students must have a 3.5 GPA or higher. Applicants must submit a personal statement about their goals in the
construction industry and two letters of recommendation from current or prior employers.
Jones-Beckwith Graduate Studies Scholarship
Awarded to students with cumulative 3.5 GPA seeking masters in Interior Design or doctoral degree with
concentration in Interior Design Education; has less than 15 graduate credits completed toward degree.

Jones-Beckwith Advanced Graduate Studies Scholarship
Awarded to students seeking an Interior Design master’s or doctoral degree in the College of Technology concentration in Interior Design education; Minimum overall GPA 3.5 with 15 or more graduate credits toward
the degree prior to the award semester; awarded student can only receive this scholarship twice per one degree.
Virginia Seaver Scholarship
Awarded to the students who place first in the Junior Review process in the Interior Design program. No
application required. Student is selected by the Interior Design committee.
Natalie Surovell Scholarship
Awarded to students majoring in Interior Design and show need of financial assistance. Financial need to be
expressed in essay on application.
