INTRODUCTION TO KNAPPING

Knapping is the physical art of making stone cutting tools (arrowheads,
stone scrappers, drills, knives, etc.). You will learn how to use percussion
techniques to both create large spalls and thin and shape those spalls
to preforms. Pressure flaking of the preforms is then used to refine
the shape and make notches, if desired. Each student is required
to bring protective eyeglasses or goggles and wear closed toe
shoes and gloves to every class. A tool kit will be provided. Pay
