storm drainage improvement project
YOUR STORM WATER FEES AT WORK
July 17, 2008
Dear Resident,
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services (Storm Water) held
a public meeting on May 20, 2008 at the Belmont Community
Center for the Louise Avenue Storm Drainage Improvement
Project.
The meeting introduced the project, presented the existing
storm drainage conditions and preferred design alternative, and
discussed the Capital Improvement Program. Meeting highlights:
•
•
•
Bob Wilson, Project Manager for the consulting firm US
Infrastructure of Carolina, Inc. and Danée McGee, the City’s
Project Manager for Louise Avenue, are the citizens’ primary
contacts for this project.
Videos which discuss the typical Capital Improvement Project,
Easement Acquisition Process and Construction Process are
available on the website at http://www.charmeck.org/
Departments/StormWater/video.htm.
Much of the storm sewer system identified for repair is along
Hawthorne Lane, Kennon Street, and Thomas Avenue.
•
Community involvement is important to the success of the
project and the team would like to hear any concerns. Two
more community meetings will be held in order to work
with the citizens. The next meeting will be near the end of
preliminary design to present the proposed improvements
to residents. The final public meeting will be near the end
of design to present the preliminary construction drawings
and discuss impacts associated with the improvements. All
individual citizen issues will be used in developing proposed
solutions.
