January 29, 2016 Project Status: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services and engineering consultant STV have analyzed some preliminary alternatives for the storm drainage system. The project team is gathering supporting information on cost and environmental permitting before selecting the optimum alternative. Schedule, budget and possible collaboration with other City Departments are being considered as well. Next Steps: After all potential alternatives are studied and evaluated, a recommended alternative to remedy the flooding issues will be shared with the neighborhood for feedback. The City repairs, replaces and installs new storm drainage infrastructure when it deteriorates or becomes too small to handle increases in stormwater. Investing in infrastructure protects public safety, guards private property, improves water quality and enhances quality of life. The Beckwith/Meadow Storm Drainage Improvement Project goal is to reduce flooding of streets and structures by improving the storm drainage infrastructure within the neighborhood.
