WHAT TO EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION storm drainage improvement project Myrtle/Morehead Phase l Dear Resident: Charlotte Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is beginning the construction phase of the Myrtle /Morehead Phase 1 Storm Drainage Improvement Project. In preparation for construction, we have expanded our mailing list to include some properties that are located near the construction area but not directly associated with the project. For those not familiar with this project, the goal of the Myrtle/Morehead Storm Drainage Improvement Project is to improve storm drainage infrastructure and reduce flooding of streets and structures. The project boundaries are South Boulevard to the northwest, John Belk Freeway to the northeast, and East Park Road to the south. Phase 1 of the project includes installing new drainage at Baxter Street, McDowell Street, Morehead Road, and Oriole Avenue. Inspection services will be provided by Campo & Associates. Construction is anticipated to begin in the fall. To help you understand the project’s temporary disruptions, some common concerns are listed on the reverse side of this postcard. Construction updates will be mailed approximately every 4 months. June 2014 OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU Our goal is to minimize the impact of any construction. The designers of this project have taken great care to develop a construction plan that will minimize inconveniences to you. However, the very nature of this work often makes it necessary to temporarily reduce or detour traffic flow and close streets. We will help you locate parking if your driveway is blocked temporarily. HEAVY CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT the work area for the duration of the project. This kind of work uses heavy construction vehicles, including dump trucks, concrete trucks, and earth moving and trenching equipment, all of which are quite loud during operations. The contractor may keep equipment within OPEN HOLES AND TRENCHES If it is necessary to maintain an open hole or trench, the contractor is required to make the area safe with fences, barricades, or other methods.
