WHAT TO EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION
storm drainage improvement project
Myrtle/Morehead Phase l
Dear Resident:
Charlotte Mecklenburg Storm Water Services is beginning the
construction phase of the Myrtle /Morehead Phase 1 Storm
Drainage Improvement Project. In preparation for construction,
we have expanded our mailing list to include some properties that
are located near the construction area but not directly associated
with the project. For those not familiar with this project, the goal
of the Myrtle/Morehead Storm Drainage Improvement Project is to
improve storm drainage infrastructure and reduce flooding of streets
and structures. The project boundaries are South Boulevard to the
northwest, John Belk Freeway to the northeast, and East Park Road to
the south. Phase 1 of the project includes installing new drainage at
Baxter Street, McDowell Street, Morehead Road, and Oriole Avenue.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
Our goal is to minimize the
impact of any construction. The
designers of this project have
taken great care to develop
a construction plan that will
minimize inconveniences to you.
However, the very nature of this
work often makes it necessary
to temporarily reduce or detour
traffic flow and close streets.
We will help you locate parking
if your driveway is blocked
temporarily.
HEAVY
CONSTRUCTION
EQUIPMENT
the work area for the duration of the project.
This kind of work uses
heavy construction vehicles,
including dump trucks,
concrete trucks, and earth
moving and trenching
equipment, all of which
are quite loud during
operations. The contractor
may keep equipment within
OPEN HOLES AND TRENCHES
If it is necessary to maintain an open hole
or trench, the contractor is required to make
the area safe with fences, barricades, or
other methods. Please be cautious as you
enter and exit your property.
