Cherokee/Scotland storm drainage improvement project YOUR STORM WATER FEES AT WORK June 6, 2008 Dear Resident, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services (Storm Water) held a public meeting on May 8, 2008 at Christ Episcopal Church for the Cherokee/Scotland Storm Drainage Improvement Project. • The meeting discussed the recommended project alternative for the Cherokee/Scotland Project and gathered additional feedback. Meeting highlights: • • • • Mr. Troy Eisenberger, Project Manager, discussed the organization of the project team and provided a general overview of the Storm Water Services Program. The planning phase is complete. The proposed alternative was presented at the meeting. This alternative was developed to ensure improvements will be implemented in the most appropriate locations. He emphasized that community involvement is imperative to the success of the project and the team wanted to hear any concerns. The Design Phase is anticipated to begin during the summer of 2008, which includes developing construction drawings • for the proposed improvements. This phase typically lasts 18 to 24 months. A third public meeting will be held when the design plans are 70% complete. Mr. Eisenberger noted that construction is a maximum of two years. The meeting concluded with breakout sessions that invited citizens to interact with the project team one-on-one.
