The Thomasboro/Hoskins Neighborhood Improvement Projects continue in your area. Below
is an update on Phases 3 and 4. Please see the contacts on the right hand side of this
newsletter for questions or more information about the projects.
Phase 3 - Glenwood Neighborhood Area and Blenhein Project
Phase 3 of the Thomasboro/Hoskins Neighborhood Improvement Project (NIP), highlighted in
blue on the map below, is currently in the Design Phase. The Right-of-Way kick-off meeting
was held on April 15 at Thomasboro Church of Christ. The City’s Real Estate representative
explained what to expect during the Real Estate Phase. This phase will begin in July and
construction will begin on or before March 2010.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services (CMSWS) continues to research alternatives
for the Blenhein Project. These improvements are along Welling Avenue.
Phase 4 - Bradford Neighborhood Area and Westridge Storm Water Project
Phase 4 of the Thomasboro/Hoskins NIP, highlighted in green below, will begin the Design
Phase in the next few months. The project team is currently negotiating the design contract
with the consultant. The improvements could include curb and gutter, storm drainage, sidewalk and/or waterlines. A public meeting will be held in the next few months to present the
selected NIP improvements.
The CMSWS project, Westridge Storm Drainage Improvement Project, will be designed
simultaneously with the NIP. The project will evaluate the storm drainage systems and
possible stream restoration opportunities in the area bounded in black on the map below.
