Topics/Subject Decisions/Conclusions/Actions Old Business Status of residential checklist (common defects) Checklist discussed at previous meeting is complied but description of each item is still being worked on and should be completed within the next 30 days. Department director also has asked other trades to compile a similar list of major reasons for failures with Code references. New Business Post/columns DOI interpretation Cancellation procedure for inspections Metal standing seam roofing Interpretation that is on DOI website about securing columns at base (lateral restraint) was passed out-see attached copy. Discussed an Administrative procedure for same day inspection cancellations. In order for inspectors to control their workload and not go to a site that was cancelled by contractor through the office it will be necessary for anyone who needs to cancel a inspection after 7:00am same day to contact the field inspector directly. This can be done by Nextel radio or cell phone number, new list is available from the office. Concern raised about metal roofing type material that is being used in the field and is not approved for roofing material. Roofing material shall be of an approved product and secured per the Code and the manufactures installation instructions as listed in section R903.1. Coil stock is not going to be an approved product for roof applications and as a example one builder has changed their product to a roll product that is field formed that is approved for roof applications with complete installation guidelines and flashing details. This product is made by a company called Drexel metals and as a example please refer to their website for technical data at www.drexmet.com. Other products are Stair stringer to slab separation requirement Repair bolts used in brick application available but need to be approved for their end usage (roof installation). Question asked about stair stringers in direct contact with slab floor system. Non-treated stair stringers in direct contact with slabs need to be separated by an approved vapor retarder such as 6 mil poly. If a bolt is required to be place because of missing bolt or incorrect spacing there is no strap or wedge anchor approved for installation in clay brick. No information available on the use of epoxy bolts in this brick application and can only be installed with specific engineering approval. Next meeting is on October 6th in Woods conference room at 8:00am, 700 N. Tryon St.
