Portals and Portlets 2003
Some thoughts…
Portals are used for many purposes. Many have been hand crafted.
We want to compare generic technology.
• We are adding value to the Grid, Data and Information
infrastructure
• We re separating Presentation Layer from Content
• We are using Services
• We must take into account Security = Authentication + Role-based
Authorisation
• Many institutions have Firewalls
• We wish to contribute to international research in this area
• We will write up a report of this workshop + Web site
• Other related workshops focussing on middleware and services
