As part of my duties as an employee of NeSC, I attended the following sessions at GGF 16:
OGSA-Authorization Working Group (Mon 13 th
)
My work in Grid research is primarily focused on security. Authorization standards and specifications have a large impact on the technology that I use within projects that I am involved in at NeSC.
Grid Education and Training Workshop (Tues 14 th
)
Part of my remit at NeSC in Glasgow is to assist in the teaching of the Advanced MSc Grid Computing module. As such, my attendance at this session aided with the discovery of other methods of teaching Grid and discussion of the issues raised in this field.
Shib and Grid Investigators Meeting (Tues 14 th
)
Again, the security work that forms the mainstay of my research work largely involves Shibboleth and other technologies that interface with it. Attendance at this session gave me an overview of what projects exist just now in investigating Shibboleth and how these relate to projects of this kind being conducted at
Glasgow.
GT4 Status and Experiences (Wed 15 th
)
I am currently using GT4 as part of the development of the VOTES project and have previously been involved in the alpha-testing stage of GT4. I attended this session to gain an overview of how v4 of the toolkit has since progressed and to discuss whether new features have appeared that may help with current development efforts.
OGSA-DAI Technology Update (Wed 15 th
)
As with GT4, I am using OGSA-DAI in my current project and an update in the status of the technology would be useful for knowledge of implementation in the VOTES project.
Security and Privacy needs of Health Grids (Wed 15 th
)
This meeting had a direct impact on work in my current project as this is exactly the application domain that is covered by VOTES, with a focus on the security aspects that are prevalent in the life sciences.
Grid Authorization Interoperability Workshop (Thurs 16 th
)
The issues that are appearing in the establishment of a Grid authorization infrastructure also have a direct impact on previous security work and the issues that are prevalent in the VOTES project.
