WS 2: „Making a difference – how to translate engagement into
chance“
Success factors
- young people bring fresh perspective into policy processes
- governments need to be prepared to listen (problem awareness)
- provide feedback on the outcomes
- managing expectations, clarify limitations
- participation not only about changing policies, but the process
itself can be rewarding (enjoyful, personal development)
- ownership of the process: early involvement of youth
- keep it simple!
But:
There‘s no guarantee that governments will implement proposals 
policy-making remains complex, political and unpredictable
