Conte Center Pilot Project Grants: Application Instructions Purpose The Conte Center for Neuroscience Research announces the annual call for pilot grant proposals. These awards are an internal funding program available to Vanderbilt University faculty with the intent of supporting innovative pilot studies in serotonin neurobiology. This Pilot Grant Program is made possible by an endowment from the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University. Award Information Pilot Grants for the amount of $20,000 (maximum) each will be awarded annually through the Conte Center for Neuroscience Research at Vanderbilt. Awards will be for 12 months. Application Procedure Applications are due by 5pm, Tuesday, March 2, 2016. Applicants should submit their proposal electronically as a single document (Word or PDF format) to Denise Malone at Denise.Malone@vanderbilt.edu Each application should contain the following: • • • • • • Abstract: a description of the proposed research, limited to 500 words Budget: budget summary listed by category (salary, supplies, travel, etc) with a brief justification. Research Plan: a two-page (maximum) document outlining the project goals to be accomplished with the award funds. The research plan should include background and significance, project aims and relevance to the Conte Center/serotonin neurobiology. Preliminary data related to the project, if included, must be within the two- page limitation. Appropriate IACUC/IRB approval: although an application will be reviewed, funds will not be issued without appropriate IACUC/IRB documentation. References: a separate page listing up to 25 bibliographic references may also be included. Review Process Submissions will be reviewed by a subcommittee of Conte Center Project Directors; decisions regarding funding should allow projects to begin by April 1, 2016. Evaluations will be based on scientific merit and innovation of the proposed projects and relevance to the aims of the Conte Center.
