Implementation of International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS)
Fitriasuri Fitriasuri and Sarah Aristin
This study aimed to determine the effect of constraint factor and
preparedness factor in the implementation of International Financial
Reporting Standard (IFRS). IFRS now is very important for
internationalization in various ways to help the institution deal with
global competition. However, in practice there are many obstacles to
be overcome and some things need to be prepared. Therefore,
researchers collect some data through the distribution of
questionnaires. Object of this research is academics in accounting
who play an important role in implementation IFRS Process in
preparing graduates as professionals in the field of accounting. A
number of questions related to the obstacles that may be
encountered and the preparation has been done and also the
applications of IFRS until today have been asked to the respondent.
By using a multiple regression analysis, this study obtains some
results. First, the obstacles in the application of IFRS are in the high
category. Obstacles that still prevent the application of IFRS are
cultural differences, the rule of law and limited human resources who
are competent to apply IFRS. Second, the readinesses of the
application of IFRS are in the high category too. Teaching Material
and Training on IFRS is required by an IFRS Lecturer to deliver
material to students. Researcher also found that not all course
material based on IFRS. Finally, the results indicate that there is
significant effect between constraints and readiness factors
simultaneously on implementation of IFRS.
Key Word: effect, constraint, preparedness, implementation, IFRS
