This paper reports the findings of an exploratory study of the relationship between real estate and economic development in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The study aims to provide insights into the past, present and future role of the Bahrain real estate industry. These insights will help policy maker/strategists to make decisions to ensure the sector develops in a sustainable manner in the best interests of the national economy. Qualitative data were collected from in-depth structured interviews with individuals working in real estate development organisations, investment banks and interested government organisations, such as the Economic Development Board.
