Kingdom of Bahrain
Mouzughi, Y., Bryde, D.J. and Al-Shaer, M.
This paper reports the findings of an exploratory study of the
relationship between real estate and economic development
in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The study aims to provide insights
into the past, present and future role of the Bahrain real estate
industry. These insights will help policy maker/strategists to
make decisions to ensure the sector develops in a sustainable
manner in the best interests of the national economy.
Qualitative data were collected from in-depth structured
interviews with individuals working in real estate development
organisations, investment banks and interested government
organisations, such as the Economic Development Board.
The interview findings inform recommendations which are
reported in this paper, covering: incentives to private
developers, policies to attract Foreign Direct Investment and
the use of Public/Private/Partnership models for real estate
development.
