Proceedings of 34th International Business Research Conference 4 - 5 April 2016, Imperial College, London, UK, ISBN: 978-1-925488-02-9 Islamic Business Ethics and Practices of Islamic Banks: Perceptions of Islamic Bank Employees in Gulf Cooperation Countries and Malaysia Mohd Edil Abd Sukor, Muhammad Adli Musa, Mohd Nazari Ismail and Muhd Ramadhan Fitri Elias We examine the perception of employees on various issues related to Islamic business ethics and the practices of the Islamic banks they are working at. Based on questionnaires distributed to bank executives working at selected Islamic banks in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries (UAE, Oman and Bahrain) and Malaysia, it appears that Islamic business ethics is of more significance to the former rather than the latter. The findings also suggest that in general, there is a positive correlation between attitudes and behaviours of employees and the ethical practices of Islamic banks. In addition, Islamic banks were perceived to be ethical as their operations. Key Words: business ethics, Islamic business ethics, Islamic banking, ethical behavior, ethical practices ____________________________________________________________________ Mohd Edil Abd Sukor is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Finance and Banking, Faculty of Business and Accountancy, University of Malaya.
