Tourism has considered as the world’s largest and rapid growing industry of
modern business world. It has a vital influence on economic development
of a country. Bangladesh has enormous potential to develop tourism
because of its attractive natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. In this
case study, Analytic Hierarchy Process is used in selection decisions on
the Tourism sector in Bangladesh. The Analytic Hierarchy Processes
method (AHP) is mathematics and psychology based is commonly used in
multi-criteria decision Making process. It is a theory of measurement
through pairwise comparisons and relies on the judgments of experts to
derive priority scales. The comparisons are made using a scale of absolute
judgments that represents, how much more one element dominates
another with respect to a given attribute. The judgments may be
inconsistent, and how to measure inconsistency and improve the
judgments, when possible to obtain better consistency is a concern of the
AHP. The method is based on the multi-criteria decision Making principle
where the most suitable alternative is selected out of a group of available
alternatives on the basis of a defined number of decision making criteria.
This method is particularly suitable for use in the cases when there is not
enough information on the reviewed alternatives in decision making. This
paper identifies the application of the AHP method in the selection of a
Tourism site and individual tourist spot under each Tourism site in
Bangladesh.
