Talent Management in Consulting Industry
*Ritika Agarwal and **Chandranshu Sinha
In the present corporate environment, the question that concerns organizations is how to retain and
nurture important employees, who drive the organization towards organizational success. The solution
may be found within the concept of talent management. The current paper aims to identify the
effectiveness of talent management on organizational performance, and the extent to which
organizational success is associated with talent management. For this purpose, a literature review was
conducted and existing papers were critiqued. One of the papers discussed in literature review talked
about a strategic talent management model and how an organizations' pivotal or vital employees achieve
personal and organizational goals. However, it did not highlight the factors that motivate employees to
achieve such goals. Another paper discussed the various factors that make an employee stay in an
organization but failed to establish what these factors cast on the employees' and the organization, i.e.,
how these factors link employees and their performance. On the basis of the critique, the current paper
makes a specific contribution by developing a working model, which shows how certain factors, namely
Skill Recognition, Learning & Working Climate, Job Flexibility, Training, Career Development, Superior
Subordinate Relationship, Compensation, Communication and Employee Motivation, act as drivers or
motivate employees' towards achieving individual outcomes (Work Motivation and Organizational
Commitment) as well as organizational outcomes, and ultimately lead to organizational success. The
data was collected from 100 middle managerial employees and the Cronbach's alpha of the
questionnaire was found to be 0.9. The results indicate that an employees' individual outcomes are
driven by the above mentioned nine factors, which further lead to organizational success. The link so
established shall aid in future research and make managers deal with problems relating to retaining
talent effectively.
