The Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development in collaboration with WCTRS SIG G3-‐ Urban Transport Planning and Policy are organising an international conference entitled: Climate Change Targets and Urban Transport Policy University of Malta Valletta Campus – 13-‐14 April 2015 The WCTRS SIG G3 on Urban Transport Planning and Policy is organizing an international conference dealing with Climate Change Targets and Urban Transport Policy. The conference will take place on the 13-‐14 April 2015 at the University of Malta, in the Mediterranean islands of Malta. The conference aims to bring together leading researchers from around the world, with the potential for submitting their work to a special issue in a Journal or Book as a direct output of the Conference. Transport is responsible for more than 20% of CO2 emissions worldwide and its contribution is increasing rapidly across many countries, especially in medium to large cities. There are concerns about the importance of climate change targets in policy as climate change mitigation strategies deal less and less with transport activities. The increase in mobility of people and goods in and around cities and the importance of adopting sustainable transport practices will play an important role in achieving climate change targets. This conference aims to serve as an arena for discussing the role of policy in reducing impacts, managing demand and move people and goods effectively, and showcase urban transport policies that aim or contribute to reduce the impact of transport in climate change. This conference will bring together over 40 presentations on completed research, work in progress, as well as examples of practice and implementation in the form of presentations and posters.
