Proceedings of Annual Spain Business Research Conference 14 - 15 September 2015, Novotel Barcelona City Hotel, Barcelona, Spain ISBN: 978-1-922069-84-9 Motivational Drivers of Knowledge Sharing in the Banking Sector in India Deepa Ittimani Tholathi and Gabriel Simon Thattilii Even though there has been worldwide implementation of knowledge management systems with in most of the companies in the banking sector, one of the key components of this system that is knowledge sharing has to be actively promoted by the company. This is due to the simple fact that people are skeptical about their redundancy if they share and institutionalize their acquired knowledge .So in order to facilitate the knowledge sharing and also acceptance and reuse of this shared knowledge it has to be catalysed by motivating the concerned employees. This paper tests the hypothesis that there is a difference between the different categories of banks and banking as a whole in the effectiveness of specific motivation factors. The evidence collected and processed suggest that each of the banking categories have different motivation factor profiles when it comes to knowledge sharing.
