This two-day course provides the critical
care nurse with a review of the AACN’s
core curriculum. We use the AACN Test
Plan/Blueprint to cover the type of care
provided in the ICU, and we also offer a
general review of nursing care and
interventions for the critical care
provider. This course prepares nurses
for the CCRN certification exam by
helping them achieve the following
objectives:
 Describe the physiologic anatomy,
pathophysiologic alterations and
patient assessment for each system.
 Describe assessment, diagnostic tools
and therapeutic interventions
relevant to patients in the ICU
setting.
 Demonstrate application of critical
thinking skills and patient advocacy
as outlined in the AACN Synergy
Model of Patient Care.
 Discuss and practice test-taking skills
with practice questions.
15 total = completion of both days
7.5 contact hours = day 1
7.5 contact hours = day 2
