This two-day course provides the critical care nurse with a review of the AACN’s core curriculum. We use the AACN Test Plan/Blueprint to cover the type of care provided in the ICU, and we also offer a general review of nursing care and interventions for the critical care provider. This course prepares nurses for the CCRN certification exam by helping them achieve the following objectives: Describe the physiologic anatomy, pathophysiologic alterations and patient assessment for each system. Describe assessment, diagnostic tools and therapeutic interventions relevant to patients in the ICU setting. Demonstrate application of critical thinking skills and patient advocacy as outlined in the AACN Synergy Model of Patient Care. Discuss and practice test-taking skills with practice questions. 15 total = completion of both days 7.5 contact hours = day 1 7.5 contact hours = day 2 Version date: March 2016 Nursing Education and Professional Development VanderbiltNursing.com Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Tennessee Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation
