MECKLENBURG COUNTY Land Use and Environmental Services Agency Code Enforcement 8/29/12 To: Residential Electronic Plan Submittal Customers From: Tim Taylor, CTAC/RTAC Manager Reference: Residential Electronic Plan Submittal Policy Our Residential Electronic Plan Submittal program has been in effect for four years. This program has proven to be very beneficial to both Code Enforcement and the home builder community. We believe there is always room for improvement, consequently to increase our efficiency and ensure the product is code compliant certain submittal guidelines must be followed. • • • • • Plans must be submitted as one file, “Other Files” may be of supporting nature only, for example: beam or truss specifications. Master plan designs should be limited to eight structural options and four elevation options, all combined into one file. File names must be limited to forty characters and unique to other file names. Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing drawings are not reviewed for code compliance and therefore should not be included in the plan submittal Approved master plans must be customized into a site specific plan set for the field inspector and maintained at the construction site. These guidelines will become effective October 1, 2012. Plans received after this date not conforming to these guidelines will be rejected.
