The District uses Alert Solutions (formerly known as Power Alert) as our emergency notification system. This
is the system we use to notify families in situations such as school closures due to weather, bus delays, crisis
situations, attendance issues, and other district and school communications.
Alert Solutions allows us to send messages using email, voice, and text messaging.
The system is integrated with the PowerSchool Parent Portal. To view/edit your contact information and
preferences, click on “Alert Solutions 2” within the Parent Portal.
Contact Information
Click the tab titled “Subscriber Information” to view your current contact information. On this screen you
may enter/edit up to three cell phone numbers and three email addresses, in addition to a home phone
number.
*Please note that the updates made on this screen may take up to 24-48 hours (not including weekends) to be
reflected in our system.
You can then determine which types of messages (voice, text, and email), as well as which categories of
messages (school closures, general announcements, attendance alerts), you would like to be delivered to each
of these numbers/email addresses. Please read below for instructions on setting Contact Preferences.
Contact Preferences
To set the contact preferences as described above, click the tab titled “Contact Preferences.” Click and drag
the appropriate contact field (e.g. Home Phone, Email 1, Cell Phone 2) down to the respective category/
message type boxes you would like to receive for each.
Please note:
• You may not “opt out” of Emergency Messages. By default, these types of messages will be sent via all
available contact methods. Thus, these types of messages are reserved only for true emergency situations.
• Many D158 schools are now using Alert Solutions to send parent email blasts. These are sent under the
General Alerts category, so please ensure you are set up to receive these important communications.
• If you have more than one student connected to your parent portal, you must set contact information and
preferences separately for each student.
• Tolls and charges associated with receipt of messages from the school are your responsibility and not the
responsibility of the school/district.
• All phone numbers and email addresses must be in a valid format to save properly.

request changes.
