• Purpose: to give faculty members credit for all educational, research, administrative, clinical care, scholarly and other activities
• Document & Record: accomplishments, honors, publications, research funding, leadership roles, mentor/mentee relationships
• Provide: acknowledgement of achievement, development of goals for the year ahead, provide an opportunity to discuss issues and other topics including the promotion process
• Opportunity: to provide confidential feedback which is only visible to Dean & Office of Faculty Development
1. Self Assessment
• Faculty populate the online self assessment form, review and submit completed form online
• The process can be printed, saved and finished in one or more sessions.
• The self assessment may be printed and exported as a Word document for inclusion in CV
• Confirmation of submitted sent via email
2. Meeting with chair/chair designee
• Face-to-face appointment scheduled
• In person review of online submission, discussion of issues goals and career development
3. Feedback and confirmation of meeting
• Both faculty member and chair/chair designee have the opportunity to provide confidential feedback
• To complete the process, both parties confirm the meeting took place
• Mandate: LCME requirement for yearly evaluation. Modeled from success at peer institutions
• Challenges: 1484 faculty, > 20 departments
• Strategies for success: Solicited input from Department Chairs,
Solicited input from many faculty at Departmental Seminars and GFC
• Ensure that Faculty Evaluation process is useful to both Faculty and
Chairs
• Ensure that web-based interface is confidential, yet searchable by
Chairs
• Provide assistance to faculty for mentorship and promotion
• Ensure that interface is as easy to use as an iPhone, to minimize the time necessary to complete by faculty and chairs
