International Technological Conference-2014
January 2nd to 4th, 2014
This summary captures the one-day Pre-Conference and the two-day main conference program
held in Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology, Chembur, Mumbai, India
from 2nd Jan – 2014 to 4th Jan 2014. It was co-sponsored by INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL
OF APPLICATIONS or INNOVATIONS IN ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT
(IJAIEM) with an ISSN No. 2319-4847. The selection of best papers from ITechCON-2014 has
been published in IJAIEM.
The main conference brought together nearly the 100 participants and experts from the industry
and eminent institutes all over the country. The primary goal of the conference was to promote
original research in the designed fields of technology, leading to innovative applications with
direct societal impact. The conference also aimed to promote scientific information exchange
between researchers, academicians, students and practitioners working in India and abroad.
The world of Technology is changing very fast. Society can benefit from new technology only if
researchers and developers work shoulder to shoulder with current state of art technology. The
main mission of the conference was to further the cause of Information Dissemination in all
areas.
The talks given by the experts invited from industries and research organizations and the preconference visit to the research laboratory - Electron Beam Centre, Kharghar , Navi Mumbai ,
were the distinguished features of this conference.
Pre – Conference program: 2nd Jan – 2014
The Pre- Conference program was launched with welcoming remarks from principal Dr. (Mrs.)
J. M. Nair. In her talk she highlighted the importance of such conferences. Since changes occur
pretty fast in the areas of technology, interdisciplinary domains, teaching methodology,
communications, business process and banking system the traditional static methods of teaching
is not sufficient, so there is a constant need to bridge the gap between University syllabus and
actual industrial needs. To reduce this gap such type of conferences are needed.
Dr. S. Ganesan, Raja Ramanna Fellow of DAE & Professor HBNI, delivered a talk on
“Variance, Covariance , Uncertainty matrices in big data science with real life examples”. He
explained the importance of big data in industry and the problems related to it giving many real
time examples. The participants enthusiastically participated in the question – answer session
which followed the talk.
The next speaker was Dr. S. N. Suryanarayana from BARC, he delivered the talk on Nuclear
Physics. He explained the photo fission research work handled in Kharghar, Navi – Mumbai.
Another sparkling speaker of the session was Dr. Debanik Roy, Scientist (Robotics) & Program
Officer (BRNS). He delivered a talk on DAE BRNS Mechanisms for promoting interactions
between DAE and various academic institutes. The talk was very useful for all the researchers
eager to get funds for their research work.
In the afternoon session an industrial visit to Electronic Beam Center, BARC, DAE Research lab
Kharghar, was arranged. It provided a good opportunity for the participants to see the state of art
experiments.

Conference Day 1: 3rd Jan 2014
The I- TechCON- 2014 was inaugurated with the welcome speech delivered by Dr. (Mrs.) J. M.
Nair, Principal , VESIT, Mumbai. In her speech she highlighted the importance of these kind of
conferences for the researchers, the academicians and the students. The key note address was
delivered by Dr. Hemant Abhaynkar , Vice –President VIT Pune. He emphasized on the
importance of research for the young teachers and the academicians. Dr. S. K. Ukarande, Dean
of the Faculty of Technology of Mumbai University, addressed the gathering pointing out the
quality of conferences conducted and research papers which are presented today.
Dr. K. C. Mittal from BARC, delivered an interesting talk on Electronics Beam and its
Applications. He gave number of live examples where Electronics Beam is used. The talk was
widely appreciated by young researchers.

Conference Day 2: 4th Jan 2014
Dr. Archana Sharma, So/H, APPD, BTDG, BARC, winner of Homi Bhabha Science &
Technology Award, delivered a talk on “Pulse Power and its Industrial Strategies.” She
explained the technological development in the “Pulsed Power Electron Accelerator” program
and its utilization for compact high power microwave source for strategic applications. As a
special application of the same she explained 1.5 MV 25KJMarx generator using KALI-5000
accelerator, one kilo Joule Marx based repetitive High Power Microwave (HOM) generator, and
Linear Induction Accelerator.

Technology Award, delivered a talk
The paper presentation was conducted in three parallel sessions and review process at three
different venues.
The selected original and unpublished research papers from multidisciplinary areas of Computer
and Information Technology, Electronics and Electronics & Communication and Instrumentation
were presented. In the conference nearly 250 papers were received for the conference, all the
submitted papers were sent for peer review and the corresponding authors were notified about
the remarks, comments and status of the review process. Wherever reviewers recommended
further improvements in the paper, the paper was sent back to the corresponding author and the
revised version of papers was sought before the due date.
