About the Program

FDIB Green Business: Australia has been designed specifically for faculty from business, engineering, economics, and international studies. The program will provide the participants an in-depth understanding of how Australian universities, government, and businesses are flourishing and leading the way in innovation and technology relative to sustainability. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore Australia’s unique cultural heritage and witness the sustainable use of the limited resources of the Australian landscape.

The program comprises of lectures, discussion sessions, company visits and cultural excursions. Participants will have the opportunity to network with academics and business leaders of green and sustainable businesses. Speakers will be drawn from business, government, mass media, and academics.

This program is an eye-opening experience to understand how Australia is incorporating sustainable development strategies for environmental and economical well being.

Optional Trip to Lady Elliot Island (Southern Great Barrier Reef)

Participants who choose this option will fly with the rest of the group from Sydney to Brisbane. From there they will fly to Bundaberg, where they will board a small plane for the 1 hour ride to Lady Elliot Island. LEI is a coral cay island in a declared ‘Marine National Park Zone’. In addition to the marine wildlife, the island is home to thousands of birds and is therefore filled with the sounds and smells associated with them. If you long for an experience where you can get away from pretentious ‘name-brand Resorts with little substance’ and really interact with the tidal zone and the underwater water world of the Great Barrier Reef on your own terms then Lady Elliot Island is for you. For more information visit: www.ladyelliot.com.au .

The price for this option is $800/person, which includes:

 transportation to/from the island

 double accommodation (single accommodation add $150),

 meals on the island,

 snorkel equipment, some programming.

Scuba lessons and equipment are available for an additional charge.
