Ed Miller VP, Advanced Network Systems, CableLabs® Ed Miller is Vice President of the Advanced Network Systems Department for Cable Television Laboratories, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for CableLabs’ PacketCable™ and PacketCable Multimedia projects, including all aspects of technology and specification development, certification testing, and international standards promotion. The PacketCable and PacketCable Multimedia platforms enable the delivery of real-time multimedia services, including voice over IP (VoIP), over the cable highspeed data infrastructure. Mr. Miller recently rejoined CableLabs from Terayon Communication Systems, where he was Vice President of Voice Solutions. In this role, he was responsible for the company’s architectural strategy for voice over IP and next generation multimedia systems. Prior to Terayon, Mr. Miller served in various capacities within CableLabs’ PacketCable project, including that of the overall project Director. As one of the original contributors to PacketCable, he played a key role in defining the overall system architecture. Mr. Miller holds a BS degree, Magna-Cum-Laude, in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and an MS degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University, where he specialized in telecommunications networks.
