Leonor Pabon Fernando, M.D. Clinical Interests As the director of Apheresis (the withdrawal of blood from a donor's body, removal of one or more components, and transfusion of the remaining blood back to the donor), Dr. Fernando oversees all progenitor-cell collections, as well as outpatient and inpatient therapeutic apheresis, including plasma exchange, red-cell exchange, photopheresis, and white blood cell or platelet reduction. Dr. Fernando’s research interests are in transfusion medicine, which include blood utilization, challenges on stem cell collections, and cord blood transplantation.
