Jane Y. Yeun, M.D. Philosophy of Care I enjoy the intellectual challenge of nephrology — sorting out the complex ways in which kidney disease interacts with other functions. I like to take the time to get to know the patients under my care, including their medical history, philosophy and approach to life. I try to help patients take care of themselves and participate as much as possible in the medical decisions that affect them. In my practice, I explain things as simply and thoroughly as I can so that each patient can understand the disease better. I think it is most important that patients know what the problem is and what treatment options are available so that they can fully participate in the decision-making process. My affiliation with UC Davis gives my patients access to everything from basic to very specialized care in an environment dedicated to scientific knowledge and teaching, rather than just the bottom line. Clinical Interests Jane Y. Yeun has particular interests in the treatment of glomerular diseases, management of hypertension, and peritoneal dialysis. She serves on the Medical Review Board, End Stage Renal Disease Network No. 17, an organization that monitors and reports to the Health Care Finance Administration concerning the medical care of patients with end-stage renal disease. Yeun conducts research on incidence of inflammation, cardiovascular disease and vascular access thrombosis among dialysis patients.
