Great books for young adults Teenagers are very busy people. They must juggle full academic loads, extracurricular activities, plus many social ties that typify teen years. It is hard to find time to read. Many teens do not believe that reading is important. But, research shows that children and teens who read often have higher IQs. They are also more creative, do better in school and get higher paying jobs. Whatever your teen chooses to read for pleasure, encourage it. Many teens love horror stories. Some like fantasy and science fiction. While others prefer action-filled spy thrillers. For healthy development, it is crucial that your teen keep reading just for the joy of reading. Whether your teen chooses a “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer” novel or selects a book on psychic phenomena, the important thing is that she or he is reading something just for fun.
