It is not only significant cost savings for the operators to implement NGN, but also provides new revenue opportunities and makes them a business operator There are many challenges in bringing streaming services over the wireless networks for consumers The right selection of the mix of technology and the technology partner by the operator is vital for the success of NGN deployment and an end-to-end approach is necessary End-to-end convergence at all network layers is a must Fixed Mobile convergence and flat IP architecture are building blocks for this convergence approach There is a dire need for standardization for Global interoperability and 3rd party open applications interface Security issues covering service purchase and protection needs strengthening for a successful NGN service offering Colombo, Sri Lanka, 7-10 April 2009 5
