Students of Color Scholarships The Lakeshore Technical College Foundation has established Students of Color Scholarships to improve access to higher education for historically underrepresented students of color and to foster diversity on campus and in the Lakeshore community. Students of Color Scholarships will be awarded to applicants that meet all eligibility criteria, complete all application materials, and demonstrate a high level of commitment to reach their academic and professional goals. Eligibility Criteria Enroll in courses that lead to an associate degree at LTC Identify as a member of a racial or ethnic minority group as defined by federal guidelines including Hispanic or Latino, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander Application Materials Completed Online Application Form TWO Recommendation Forms completed and submitted to LTC Advancement Office Essay Response to ONE prompt sent via email to foundation@gotoltc.edu Response Prompts: Select ONE of the prompts below and write a 500 word essay response. Essays will be scored based on: Standard Written English (grammar, spelling, punctuation, paragraphing) Focused and complete response to the prompt Evidence of ability to set and attain goals Commitment to contribute to the community, family, or school Community Engagement: Tell us about how you have been involved in the community (cultural community, neighborhood, school). What will you do in the future to give back to others? Diversity: Tell us about your commitment to issues of diversity and equality. What will you do in the future to inspire inclusion and social justice? Leadership: Tell us about a time that you have taken a leadership role in your community, family, neighborhood, or school. How will you build on these skills at LTC to become a leader in your community? Overcoming Challenges: Tell us about a challenge that you have faced and how you overcame this challenge. How has this experience shaped your goals for the future?
